Drivers side heat........sometimes

Hi All,
My wifes '06 is giving her some issues. Every now and then the drivers side heat will blow cold air. At first I thought it may be do to the fact that she normally has the pass. side her cranked up to 85 and the drivers side 70, but thats not always the case. WE were out the other day in her car, I was driving the temp for both sides set @70 and the drivers side slowly starts blowing cold air while the pass. side worked as normal. As I drove I played around with it, I ended up shutting the heat off then back on and it seemed to work right after that with both sides getting heat. I've done some reading on this, I don't think I have an air issue on the count of the passenger side heat always works. I also read somewhere about actuators for the dampers, I just can't afford to start throwing parts at it, so I'm here asking the folks who know. Thanks to all in advance.
