Will the stock spark plugs really go 100,000 miles? Should I change them early considering I tow a camper? I am thinking the heat cycles and high rpm when towing would wear them more then normal driving? How do they look at 100k when some of you changed them?

Mine have gone over 100k. They are on my list of upcoming maintenance items. I don't tow, but lots of mountain driving since I've had it push the rpm higher than normal.

They can go 105,000 miles with no problem, which is the recommended interval. Prior to 2008, NGK Laser Platinums were used and they usually show some wear at 105,000 miles, but, 2008-and-later used NGK OE Iridiums, which could go 120,000 miles without a problem if they had to, even though Nissan kept the same 105,000 mile interval for them. Unless you are experiencing decreased engine performance or fuel mileage, I wouldn't be concerned about replacing them early.

I'm at 176,000 miles with the original spark plugs and it still purrs like a kitten. Going to change them this Spring because I feel like I probably should.

I don't think my Father-in-law has changed the spark plugs in any vehicle he's ever owned. His 89 Toyota Van finally crapped out at 15 years and 420k kms. Ran like a top, other than the cracked manifold that made it so you could hear him coming from about 5 miles away.

Thing had 4wd too.

Man I wish my father in law had a cracked manifold so I could hear him coming! .. It would give me time to jump in my Pathfinder and take off before he gets here!

2008 has the OE Laser Iridiums, so I wouldn't be surprised as they do take a long time to wear out. But at 176,000 miles, I think you got your money's worth out of them!

My wife's '03 Explorer still has the original, factory installed plugs at 163,000 miles. I'm tempted to see just how long it will go.

At this point they may be stuck in the block! I have a friend who is a Ford teck and this is common on Fords. It can be quite difficult and time consuming to remove them also expensive.
