Misfire

Hi all
Today went out to my car and she was difficult to start, clouds of white smoke ( unborn the fuel) when she finally started it had a terrible misfire.
I decided to continue my journey to see if it cleared, anyway after stopping it to do some shopping I returned and she started fine and ran on all four.
Any ideas anyone? Do you think it was just one of those things!
Going to put some injector cleaner in and monitor the running.
