2006 Pathfinder LE 4.0 Rod bearing replacement

Hey, can someone answer if I can replace the rod bearings without removing the engine? Some have said yes if you remove the cross member, but I need a good firm answer before I start as this is a primary vehicle for my wife. I have done this before with older vehicles, but I am unsure about this car. please advise
