noisy low idle when coming to a stop in drive

When the vehicle is warm, and I come to a stop, staying in drive, the idle drops low and causes the vehicle to idle a little loud.

What is causing the idle to drop leading to this noisy idle? I am thinking a cleaning of the throttle body, replacement of the PCV valve, and maybe some other maintenance may correct this?

Dunno what engine you have, mines a 2.5 diesel and was seeming to over vibrate pulling up at junctions.

Last night i disconnected the battery and cleaned the MAF, cleaned and greased the battery terminals.

Put it all back together after about 30mins and it all seemed loads better, smoother.

My only 'oh fek, what have i done' moment was turning the ignition on and the traction control lights wouldn't go off...... this is normal until driving a few meters after battery reconnection apparently.

That's pretty typical on VQ40DE engines; they tend to have a rough idle. The base idle can be raised a little, but one needs either a capable scan tool or a tuner. Cleaning the throttle body may or may not do any good, but be prepared to do an idle air volume relearn after you clean it. PCV valve probably isn't a problem, either, unless there's sludge in your oil. Of course, there's no harm in either cleaning it or replacing it, if you wish. It is a bit of a pain to get to, however.

An old thread.... but I seem to experience the same low idle issue at a stop when warm. It is at about 700 RPM and fine then dips to 650 and is rough, no misfire. Just annoying as hell. That small bump in idle would fix it. 2010 V6 LE
