The Nissan Path

I have a 2011 that is leaking coolant at the coolant reservoir. My question is, can I put the pressure cap off the reservoir on the radiator and just use the reservoir to catch any overflow until I can get a replacement reservoir? In other words, like in the old days instead of the closed system.

No..the system isn't designed to work like that.
