Is the mileage on the Pathfinder really 14/18?

I have ordered a 2010 Pathfinder V6, 4x4, but I'm really spooked by the mileage. Is it really 14 city/18 highway? I know I'm not getting a Prius, but wow.

What kind of mileage do you actually see?

Thanks.

Jeff
On order: 2010 V6, 4x4, LE, Red Brick/Graphite, Nav

2006 LE . . . 15-16 city / 20-21 hwy (that's at 75 with cruise on and A/C blastin'). Dunno what's up with the 13/18. :?

nebbermine . . . guess you ordered the 4WD V8. Checked the EPA estimates and saw the 13/18. I'm a 2WD V6, so that es-plains the difference.

[edit]
My bad. I wasn't reading very well last night. Just saw "V6" in your original message. Apparently the EPA numbers ARE lower for 2010.

I'm 4x4 and v6 and get 18-19 city/highway. the V8 should not be that much worse

Did they lower the estimates for 2010? The V6 4x4 was listed as 14/20 for 2008 and 2009 using the newer, stricter guidelines. My '08 S got 16/21 on the original street tires and now gets 15/20 with larger AT's. We just took a 2300 mile trip with the four of us, loaded to the ceiling with stuff and bikes hanging off the back. Our drive included a lot of mountain driving and we still got 18.4mpg, which is higher than the highway mileage estimate you report.

I can't parse my city/highway mileage into two discrete numbers but I can tell you that having fun the the 260hp gets me an average of 17.9mpg. Driving like it's a Prius I can get 20mpg.

i drive about 1000 miles a week in my '08 v6 4x4, loaded down with around 200-300 lbs at highway speeds of around 80 mph regularly, and i get around 18 mpg normally.

I've got a 2005 V6 and get 16-17 on my daily commute, which is residential 30 mph windy roads with occasional traffic lights. If I drive aggressively or tow I'll get down to 14, and I can get 20-21 while on the highway and the tank will average out to 18-19. Mine seems to be getting better since I bought it 9 months ago. I think I am just figuring out how to accelarate/drive smoothly.

Suprisingly, my MPG computer read out is accurate to the 1/10th of a MPG, even with mixed driving on the same trip. I've never had a car that accurate before.

19.1 mpg on a I recent trip of 1400 (mostly) freeway miles from west Texas to Georgia, loaded w/ gear and a Thule top box. Usually at 2-3 mph over speed limit which translates to an overall average of about 73 mph. Top speed was 86. 87 octane fuel. The first several hundred miles in TX saw much lower mpg (16.5 or so) as the speed limit there is 80. Last 900 miles or so w/ speed limit at 70 saw greatly improved mileage.

13/18 would be for the V8.

wow, you guys have awesome mileage. even with the lowest figures. Here where I live our gas is soooo crappy that the best highway mileage I get was 18-19 mpg. in the city with some traffic jams the best I got was 10.5 mpg. if I drive aggresively it gets down to 8 mpg and sometimes less. :)

Your tires will have a big effect on these figures as well.

I had OEM tires on when I got my 05. 37k miles. They were P265/70 16's.

I was getting 17+ with everyday driving, and 20+ on the highway trips. Very nice.

Now, I am using Goodyear Silent Armors, LT265/75 16's. These are the larger tire size, and an All Terain style of tire.

Large difference. Now I am getting 15+ everday driving, and around 17+ on the highway. I love these tires anyways. 8)
