P0420

For the last month I’ve been getting the P0420 code - I clear it off wit my obd2 - but it’s now popping up every 20-30km... no other codes. I have an app on my phone and could take other readings.

I took my car for inspection 6 months ago back (no probs or engine errors then) m and they told me exhaust lines or something there has a bunch of leaks that need to be welded up.

Also, I put in very cheap cats exactly 2 years and 4 months ago. 2 front and 2 rear - got them for $550 cdn all 4.

Could I start by welding up the leaks - would that take away the “vacuum” problem? I’ve heard this thrown around on this forum...

Or should I buy new cat(s) and what cat(s)?

WWYD?

You need to take care of the exhaust leaks, because that could cause the P0420 code issue. My 2006 kept triggering a P0430 code due to an inefficient, upstream converter. Rather than replace the converter, I installed an oxygen sensor spacer on the rear sensor and no more CEL! The part was $11 on Amazon, IIRC. It was called a KKMoon lambda sensor spacer M18...or something like that.
