Oil leak = Tune Up Time

So I found a Cam Position Sensor leaking oil, passenger side of course, and the start of a valve cover gasket leaking, naturally the passenger side also, sooo..

2 new Hitachi Cam Position Sensors, Rock Auto $38 ea. I believe OEM sensors were Hitachi. Good Price I think.
Both valve cover gaskets, Rock Auto, Fel-Pro
Intake plenum seals, Rock Auto, Fel-pro
I also ordered spark plug tube seals. Are these even a thing? Only $8 so I got them from Rock Auto also.
At 93K miles you take that much apart, you know you got to do spark plugs.
I hope these are the correct plugs because I got a great deal, NGK Laser Iridium Resistor Spark Plug (DILFR5A11) at JEGS, $11.99 ea., normally $21.99.

Hmmm, about that manifold spacer from Z1, thanks Code Pathfinder! Very interesting.

Now for a warm day in Chicgoland..............

I think you "can" do just the valve cover gaskets, but the plastic warps over time. I believe most people replace the whole thing.

Mine were leaking really badly when I replaced them. Like enough to where the engine was low on oil at the next oil change.

Spark plugs are correct. To replace the spark plug tube seals, you need to replace the entire valve cover, itself. Generally speaking with Nissan, if the valve cover is metal, you can replace the spark plug tube seals, but if the valve cover is plastic, you have to replace the entire valve cover.

That sir is a most interesting fact.
I'll send the ones I got from RA back because after watching a few YT videos, they ain't gonna work.

Question: Are the spark plug tube seal a common point of failure? Are they at least good enough for 1 R&R?

Believe it or not but I think Z1 might have the best deal,

Thank you for the heads up.

Yes, they're a common failure point largely because the rubber loses resilience with heat and old age. If they're still pliable then you can generally get away with re-use, if they've hardened up then you should replace them.

Fortunately, the valve covers for the 4.0L aren't that expensive. I got over 225K miles on my two R51's and they haven't leaked, so far...knock on wood! So, it's common enough that we know about them, but nothing lasts forever!
