2012 V6 4.0. Cold Air Intake and Cat Delete with Magna Flow

Hey Guys,

I would like to do a simple cold air intake - cat delete and new muffler to get the old girl sounding good.

Are there any significant problems that come up with this?
Will I be fighting an engine light or SES codes for the rest of my life?

Thanks,

I can't think of a way to eliminate the CEL for the rear O2 sensors. They wanna see something burning, or what's the point of them there.

Unfortunately this part I have little experience in (cold air, cat delete).

From what I've read here, the best performance mod for the V6 is that raised air intake spacer.

Some have installed the Doug Thorley (??) headers. Probably search what that result achieved. I think those delete the front cats, and go along with what you are thinking to do.

also remember in order to take full advantage of your breathing mods you will want to get your trucks ECU reflashed + tuned on a dyno.
UpRev tuning software has a very good reputation with Nissans.
It can be done both on and off the dyno.
But on-dyno tuno while adding expense will also add more accuracy.

The UpRev will also take care of any CELs car will still pass emissions inspections (if your state has those)

It does make a big difference, otherwise breathing mods often do very little.
The cats are the greatest restriction in our trucks, replacing those alone with a dyno tune could yield some measurable result.

Currently my only "mod" is I always run 93 Octane to keep the ECU in a aggressive tune.
Nissan ECUs are pretty response to Octane.

In the past I modded Nissans quite a bit though.

I don't know why people call these things cold air intakes. The mod basically changes the air intake to consume air from within the engine bay which has been ... wait for it ... heated by the engine and radiator. This is a total misnomer. The stock airbox takes air from outside the engine bay which is cooler (from a temperature standpoint).

There are definitely better sounding mufflers out there. But i couldn't point you to one. The spacer does seem to have some evidence to support it as well.

Yeah, also not a fan of so called CAIs often do more hamr than good.

the plenum spacer and maybe high flow catalytic converters and then a retune will be 90% of the effect that breathing mods can give you.
