P0430 Code

My 2006 Pathfinder just threw a P430 code. There are no noticeable differences in engine sound or performance from before and after the code. I tried the cat cleaner in a bottle as a long shot.

Do I need to change out the Bank 2 cat? Should I change Bank 1 while I'm at it? Or is it just a sensor issue?

P0430 or P0420 by themselves are never a bad sensor, they're a bad cat. If there were other codes with it, that might be a different story.

VStar hits the nail on the head as usual.

A few months back I was just presented with the exact same situation.
Replaced both sides while I was at it.
yes it doubled my cost but I got tired of replacing just one side of something this year, only to have to go back and then chase shop appointments again the month later.

Also see here with a part number for the cats I ordered

Thanks, everyone! Should I replace the sensors while I'm at it?

Some other people might disagree, but unless you're made out of money, I'm from the "don't fix what ain't broken" school. You might want to have sensors on hand in case one of them strips the threads or won't come out clean, but buy them from someplace that allows returns. If you go aftermarket, make it Denso. They make most of Nissan's HO2S's and generally won't screw anything up. You're taking your chances with Bosch, NTK, Hitachi, or China-cheap stuff, they don't always work right. China-cheap is a bad idea for the cat as well. My customers have had good results with Bosal, AP/Eastern, and the higher-end Walkers. If you go bargain basement you're asking for trouble, I've seen many people end up with sensor spacers and in one instance a China cat that failed before 10K and took out the whole engine. 'Nuff said.

I've always thought the best thing to do is talk to a recycler on a 2019 Frontier.
The original cats last a long long time, and the Frontier is the same part.

Unfortunately, these are easy money for car recyclers, and I believe it's illegal to resell these.
What I did find on Car-Part.com, occasionally, are Nissan Frontier crash test vehicles, and they sell them as the trucks basically are new.

I wound up replacing mine, and it cost me $150.
A genuine Nissan cat is worth $150 in recycling, perhaps more.
I got one Eastern CAT on eBay, and a Walker on Amazon.
Trading in my old CATs to a recycler paid for the cheaper replacement ones.

I found the Walkers are a big pain compared to the Eastern (bolt holes, etc).

P0430 is bank2, which on a VQ35/VQ40 is the driver's side.
