So i opened up the hood of my pathfinder for first time today. There is a small black Radiator like thing infront of Actual Radiator.

Is this a Engine oil cooler or Transmission cooler ? And how do u turn it on. Car manual doesnt talk about it at all. I just bought this 2010 SE pathfinder the other day.

i think the logic is that the engine, under normal use, does not need an additional oil cooler
the external transmission cooler, i believe, is an aid to increase towing capacity, by helping to keep the transmission oil cooler under heavy loads

All R51s have both an auxilliary transimission cooler as well as an engine oil cooler. The engine oil cooler is water to oil and your oil filter screws onto it.
