Just ordered me one of these Kool Vue the frontier guys seems to like em so I guess ill give it a try, will let ya know how it goes when it comes in. Not sure if anyone else is running this or not.

Edit: Before the cai I took a trip to dallas from corpus christi and I was getting about 290-300 mpg before filling up, and before my trip to SLC, UT I installed the cai and was getting 325-330mpg(I milked it once to 340 but got scared) so over all not to bad. Now this pathy sounds like a beast, makes me wanna just heavy foot it all the time:).

The install was a little confusing, the instructions sucks, but with a little common sense I was able to fanagle something. Anyways here are some pics, I was gonna do a how to but was short on time and in a hurry(was installing the same day we were suppose to leave on the trip).

So you would definitely recommend this? It looks great by the way. Did you notice any increase in performance other than mpg?

From a complete stop it lags a little when flooring it, but I think It does have a increase in the mid range. For 84.00 bucks and what its done so far, I would definately recommend it.

I was reading some posts on club frontier about the koolvue some guys are adding plexi heat shields to the top of the box. Are you going to do that or even think its necessary?

Just installed the Kool-Vue today and its awesome. Pathfinder sounds like a beast but only when flooring it. I did some highway driving and was getting 20 mpg and haven't hit 20 since i got my new tires so I was happy. Installing it was confusing at times because the directions do suck. Overall I would definitely recommend the Kool-Vue especially for the price. It seems to me the same exact quality as a K&N. I also did notice a little power increase in the upper end but not much.

I like the looks of it, but I see that metal tubing heating up quickly and you will find yourself potentially sucking in more hot air than you bargin for. I was thinking that maybe it would be a wise idea to add some heat resistant type wrapping to the pipe and then some of that heat treated bubble wrap stuff wrapped around the heatshield of the Air intake, that should help keep the temps down a bit.

For the price its something definitely worth looking into, and with those minor modifications, it will help pump even cooler air into the intake. :)

been on the forum alot but never had a chance to register. some good info, so i purchased the same intake and installed it a few days ago. this thing kicks ass amazing throttle response, feels like driving a car. gas mileage seems to improve only with 93, havent tried lower grade. sound is awesome too, worth getting.

I agree with everyone Nice upgrade. I would paint it black and get ride of the fake chrome. I dont want to sound mean but I would fix the wirring job on the firewall by installing a wireloom to make it look stock. It would make your engine compartment look 100x better.
