Timing chain guides

I have done some searching and have not come up with anything... Are the timing chain guides an issue in 05+ pathy's? I know they are in some newer xterras, but im searching for a pathfinder know and just want to know what to expect

Yes the Pathfinders are prone to the same issues with the timing chain shoes as well. I had mine replaced under warranty fortunately (5 yr/60k mile powertrain warranty). You might want to look at Pathfinders that are still covered under the powertrain warranty and hope that if you do have a problem with the timing chain shoes it would be during the warranty period. I can't say whether are not the later models have this issue.

I have a 2005 and had the issue start up around 67000mi. I fought with Nissan corp for a month and the best they could do was a $250credit to cover a 1200 estimate. Absolutely rediculous! They have a known defective problem ( a plastic friggen piece they couldnt make right!) that they arent standing behind. last Nissan i buy

Does this noise go away after it's warmed up? I started getting a noise on cold startup but it goes away. Not really a whining sound but more of a clattering in the belts/pulleys. Just curious what this really sounds like and how loud.

the noise does not go away. it gets louder as the RPM's increase. It has gotten more predominant the longer I have driven it 10,000mi with issue...

Does any know if Nissan has actually corrected this problem or are the dealers installing the same defective parts?

Since this cold snap, mine seems rather loud, too, until warmed up. .Just figured it is like the piston slap that those with GM 6.0L truck engines had several yrs back. Does that diagnosis sound right?

The noise I'm getting now is nothing like the GM CSK. It's a very chattery/crackly noise that seems to be in the belt area. It changes with rpm, but only when the engine is cold. I'm wondering if it's not the tensioner.

The noise my Pathfinder made when the timing chain shoes went bad could best be described as a whine. It was noticeable at idle and got increasingly louder with engine rpm.
