Just the other day I was sitting at a light and my pathfinder accelerated on it's own then shut off sort of like if you would stahl a manual transmission. Now it has the service engine light and shuts off without warning. Any Ideas what this is from

Posting the year would help. First I would get the trouble codes pulled; post auto parts stores can do this for you for no charge. Bad ECM relays in the IPDM/ER have been known to cause similar issues. They're only $2, so even if you pop a new one in and it doesn't fix the problem, you're not much "in the hole" and you can always keep the old one for a spare! If you can get the codes, post 'em and maybe we can be of some more help!

It's a 2005 with 69,500 miles on it. After it shuts off it will start right back up but it shuts off without warning at least once every time I drive it.

Replace the ECM relay in your IPDM. Cheap fix.

Some people have replaced the entire IPDM. Search the forum for examples.

Just got off the phone with the local Nissan dealer and they're going to fix my issues. It's still covered under warranty until April 1st, thank god! I'll let you all know what they say/find. Thanks for the input!

They were replacing IPDM's originially as Nissan stated that the ECM relay was not serviceable nor the relay available. Then relays started popping up on Ebay for $10 and not long after Nissan made available a relay to service the failed ones in the IPDM. Seems to have fixed the problem, but unfortunately a bunch of people ended up with bad catalytic converters not long after the ECM relay failed.
