Does everyone tend to go OEM plugs for our Paths?

NGK PLFR5A-11 to be exact, per service manual?

That's what I used. A little pricey but they have long life. You can find them just about anywhere, not just the dealer.

Awesome. Yep just landed a badass deal from amazon. 6 for 52$. They're 9.99 everywhere else.

Having worked for Nissan for many years, I have yet to see a plug work better in Nissans or any Asian make than NGK's. I use NGK's in every gas engine I own from leaf blower to my 65 Mustang and never had a problem!

Great write up! You did it the "right" way by removing the intake plenum, but it is possible to change the plugs without removing it. It is doable with the right socket extensions, universal joints, and open end wrenches, but more challenging on the hands and fingers. Two of the plugs on the passenger side bank are pretty tough, the rest are very easy with the plenum on.

Time-wise it's probably a wash vs. removing the intake plenum, but there is less risk with getting everything back on correctly.

I went with OEM stock plugs; pricey, but worth it for something that should last 100k miles.

If you think about it, $10 for the original type NGK plug that lasts 105,000 miles versus $2.50 for a standard copper NGK plug that has to be replaced every 30,000 miles, the price really isn't that much different and who wants to pull an intake plenum every 30000 miles?

Great job on the guide, I replaced my plugs today in about 3 hours from opening the hood to putting away all the tools. Overall not to bad and having to do this only every 100k makes it a little better. I went with stock replacement NGK's. It will be a couple days before I notice any MPG gains.

One thing I will add is that there are many snap hooks that the wire harness attaches to that makes removing the intake a PITA. Make sure you get all of those snaps undone and there is a sneaky air vent tube that goes to the brakes that needs to be removed as well.

Thanks for the writeup, it defiantly saved me some time today.

nice write up.

i'm about to buy some spark plugs and replace mine. i'm only at 75k, but what the heck.

i assume the v8 shouldn't be -too- different from the v6. i'll try and get some pics so i can add to this thread if there's anything different.

in searching though, i didn't see any big discussion on spark plug brands? seems there's tons of different versions/brands. i'll probably end up with ngk, but which model? racing? iridium Ix?

For the 2008 R51 V8, NGK only has one listing, the OE Laser Iridiums. NGK stock #5443.

ahhhh, not sure why i didn't go to the ngk site...amazon, advancedauto, etc say there's like 4 version that 'fit'.

although wow, ~$25/each, or a pack of 8 for $159 from ebay. whatever happened to $2 spark plugs? :)

Try an auto parts store or I have found that ordering parts through the nissan online parts store through your local dealer gets you about 10-20% off discount vs calling and getting a price.

ordering the plugs today.

weird though that courtesyparts.com has a different part number listed as replacement:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/22401-plug ... cPath=6833&

an ebay seller says that the 5443 plug has been discontinued.

haven't done mine yet, but when I do, I'm going with the ones I listed above. They're also recommended by Uprev.

PN you listed is favored towards the FFV. Mine is not FFV, also, Ir is usually cheaper than Pt.

If you're hell bent on getting Pt, go for the D series. I prefer spending a little less and getting the same thing with the L series (Ir).

Same goes for the VQ35 in my Maxima, 15$ Pt parts, vs 8$ Ir parts.
