The Nissan Path

So a few weeks ago I had a chance to go out and get dirty on some forest roads and find some dirt and mud. After cleaning the truck I now have a squeek kind of a rubbery sound rubbing on something type of noise coming from I think the front end. It only makes noise when I am moving and is really only noticable with the windows down at slow speed. The frequency goes up or down with the speed I am moving and stops when I come to a complete stop. I have sprayed both ofthe wheels and brake assemblies with the hose to clean out mud and seem to be pretty clean but the noise didnt go away.

Has anyone had something like this happen before or have any ideas of what it could be? Thanks for the help!

same problem. on mine i think its the brake calibers.
i'm ignoring it and hoping it'll go away.

Mine is not going away. I replaced my belt about 3 months ago so it should not be that. The weird part about it is that it only squeaks while I am moving and revving the engine in drive or park (while at a stop) does not produce the noise.

Try some electrical tape on the hood latch. There's a batch of us that have had a nasty squeak and that did the trick. Lubrication doesn't seem to do anything...it needs snugged up.

I will give that a shot, it doesn't sound like it could be coming from the hood though. When I pull into the garage it makes a slow noise and that is a flat surface that shouldn't move the hood around at all.

Have you checked your front swaybar bushings?

you mentioned the frequency of the noise is relevant to your speed?

brake disc gripping? bent rotor? wheel rubbing on spring?

By all means, try the electrical tape. I was getting the noise, off and on, over any type of surface. The little u-shaped bar on the underside of the hood is the only part of the hood that is latched, so you have to long sides of the hood constantly flexing. Any kind of forward motion could get mine making noise.

I notice it on mine in reverse as well. did you only get the noise going forwards on the hood?

Got Under the truck today and found something interesting out on this squeak. It seems to be coming the front and rear Drive shafts. But only under load. I tried spraying white lithium grease on the joints but it didn't help at all. Has anyone seen this before?

"Driveshaft" or do you mean "axle shafts?" Axle shafts go from the front diff to the wheel hubs while the front drivehshaft goes from the front of the transfer case to the front diff.

Drive shaft, like I said. the input shaft to the diff.
