what fuel do you use?

soo... noticed that the gas tank door recommends using premium... who uses what, and to what advantage?

i use 93, cause i have the bully dog tuner set for premium. premium is required for max power and due to my tires i can use all the power i can get.

I use regular on a daily basis, but If I tow I usually use premium.

My gas lid says to use premium recommended for maximum performance, which doesn't necessarily mean they recommend using premium. I've tried both regular and premium and have noticed any difference in performance or gas mileage. Of course, if I was towing something heavy or had a performance tuner, I would definitely run premium.

I use premium, the couple of times I have put in regular I have noticed a drop in performance.

I use premium. I noticed with regular I was getting a slight pinging. Not with premium.

I've always run 87 unless towing, but have been getting pinging recently when climbing hills (lugging a bit). I'm due for plugs so that might be part of it. 89 octane eliminates the pinging.

well i am currently doing a test in town driving and highway combined with both regular and premium... just took a 300 mi trip with regular almost all highway... logged those results. got back and topped it off with regular and gonna drive it till its on E... then fill with premium and run in town, and next long trip will log with premium.... will report back

Been thinking of doing the same thing since I fill up every 4 days. Difference with my test being I have a bullydog tuner & would switch to the premium tune.
Just did some math....
Right now I get about
18 - 18.5mpg's using 87 octane.
87 is about $3.21/gal right now.
Say I burn 18 gallons. That'll cost me $57.78.
At 18 - 18.5mpg those 18 gallons would take me 324 - 333 miles
If I spend the SAME $57.78 on 93, which costs about $3.41/gal it would buy me 16.9 gallons.
For 93 to be worth the extra cost I would have to travel the same 324 - 333 miles on 16.9 gallons instead of 18 gallons.
That means in order to make it worth switching to premium I"ll need to get 19.17 - 19.7mpg's with 93 octane.
Maybe I'll fill up w/ 93 the next couple of fill-ups and change the map on my Bullydog GT to see if it's worth it for me... but SRONGTLY doubt it.
Been using 87 octane since I got the truck at 84k miles. Has 150 on it now and I haven't had any fuel related issues even under very heavy (4-5k lb) towing.
I don't see any reason whatsoever to switch to 93. It's not any better for your engine in any way, shape or form.

I did a similar test back when I first started driving the PF. I've never measured a mpg difference between 87, 89, or 93 and I drive similar routes every day. Could be different with a tuner though.
