The Nissan Path

I am wondering if I still have to remove the whole hatch panel to replace the license plate bulbs? I looked where the license plate bulbs are and I can see a philips (x) screw on each lens. I tried to put a screw driver up there but I couldnt get them off. I think I could probably do it if I have a skinnier screw driver.
I figured I would check here if I should even try to get those screws off or will I still have to remove the panel? Thanks!
