ECM Relay Recall Repair

If anyone has done their own recall repair of replacing their ECM Relay, did you use the special tool indicated in the recall bulletin?
The bulletin stresses the use of this tool which apparently detaches the relay from the ECM without damaging the female terminals in the ECM that the relay plugs into.
I am loathe to let a dealership touch my trucks, so I want to just buy the parts and do it myself.
