Hooking up Amp to aftermarket speakers through stock HU

So I put 4 JBL aftermarkets in my Pathy. 6x9 in front and 6.5 in rear doors. Thats what the stock setup was. However the sound was pathetic , Im assuming due to a weak HU. Many of you know replacing the integrated HU in these is no joke so I opted to just hook up an amp to the stock HU using a LOC.
Anybody done this before? Its my first time. Anything to watch out for?

Do you have a Bose system?

No. I have the integrated dash without navigation tho.
Correct me if im wrong but in order to get it out to the 4 speakers my steps will be the following
1. Disconnect head unit and wire the speaker cables from harness that connects to back of head unit to the LOC
2.The Speaker wires coming from the actual speakers (cut from harness) I will be connecting to a Stinger 9 wire and routing that to the back of the amp
3. Then the RCAs from the LOC also go to the back of the amp
Am I missing something? I feel like I have a general idea but any extra input is greatly appreciated

Im wondering has anyone run better 2ohm and 1ohm amps in lieu of the factory stuff?
Also anyone replace dash tweeters tell me what size they ran?
Ran new 2ohm 6x9's in doors and the rest of the speakers now seem shitty.

I just got done installing my new amp to power my front 6x9s and rear 6.5s. Holy crap what a difference. At first I had the stock HU powering them and it sounded pathetic. Now with the new amp I feel like i have 12s in the trunk.
The stock HU is the culprit if your sound has gone down. It just doesnt have enough power for aftermarket speakers. Below is what I went with.
