The four wheel drive indicator and the mileage indicator lights remain on even when key is turned off . having to push the tow mode button in the glove box to turn them off or drains battery.

Got the same issue but it has developed now to the point the jeep won't turn off!!! I have to pull the windscreen washer lever to cut the ignition fully after turning key off. Could I ask is yours a intelligent key like my pathfinder?

What model year? Is this a European R51? I don't recall any North American R51's having tow mode buttons in the glove box.

It's a 2012 not sure if it's called a tow mode but it's designed to be used wile being towed by like an RV or something at least that was how the tech expland it to me . Any way I had it serviced and was told the fix is to have the instrument cluster replaced as a cost of 1200$ USD

If you can post a picture a visual would help greatly. The site itself can't host pictures so you'll have to use a 3rd party site like Img.bb, Flickr, or something similar.

I had a curious problem about a week ago. Shutting off the engine, and the center touch panel would not quit. Nothing else was working except the cell phone charger. Unplugged the phone and everything turned off the way it should. The charger end was hot. I have it plugged into the switched socket now.
