2012 Pathfinder - Climate Control lights

Hi all,
Apologies if this has been asked before. The left side of my climate controls has started to go out (the fan speed, and part of the cold portion of the temperature knob)... I have heard from others that turning the interior light brightness up and down a few times via the knob on the instrument panel will make it light up again but I haven't had success.
How do I go about fixing this? Is it a simple process of pulling the knobs off and replacing a bulb behind them? It appears to me that the entire climate portion is split in half, so maybe there are two bulbs. The right side is perfectly fine.
