Cannot program key (2008 LE)

A locksmith cut the key but could not program it. I tried to program it myself using the key in/out method and I can't seem to get the hazards to flash for programming. Any insight?

You're best off reaching out to the business to confirm. I don't see why not though as the link I supplied is specifically for the R51.

in/out method is only to program the remote and not the physical mecanical key itself. keys need to be programmed through nats. in/out method will also not work with an intelligent key.

Find a lock smith who actually knows how to do it.
I have an 2008 SE (physical key with chip) and I had my back up physical key created and the chip programmed to the car for only 59 dollars total.
Do you have a physical key or a fob with your car?

Doesn't seem right. I get replacement keys from Ace Hardware for ~$50 I think (it's been a few years) and the key and pedal dance to reprogram it that comes with the key works correctly. Googling around, I can get versions of this key (same transponder) for about $15 including versions that fit inside the integrated fob/key.
My truck is finicky about some of the pedal dance stuff in the manual like the idle relearn procedure, but not this one. Should work...assuming you have the right procedure, and the right type of key...
