My stock alternator crapped the bed finally after working hard for 12 years and 210,000 miles.

With all of the electrical upgrades I have on my Nissan, I decided to put a high output alternator on.

I went with Steven at Rugged Rocks to help me order a 270 Amp High Output Alternator from DC Engineering.

My voltage before the upgrade would fluctuate between 11.5-12.0 volts during normal driving conditions.

Now, I sit at close to 15 Volts at idle and around 15.2 volts when driving.

I heard good things about rugged rocks.
One of the engineering weaknesses of our rides is how low the alternator sits and that it will get mauled a bit by the dirty waters of a water crossing.
I also heard the rugged rocks is resilient on this front.
Have not tried the product myself though , this is all hearsay. :)

Stockers usually output around 14.2. Make sure your upgrade isn't going above 15.5, that's the area where the CANbus will begin to say, "Ouch!"
