HID Lights Installation Tips

I finally made the decision to step up to HID lights after burning out a regular bulb.

Anxiously waiting my 6000k xenon kit. I was wondering if anybody had issues with theirs either performance wise or installation. Or simply share your experience with HIDs.[/i]

i tried phillips and a crappy chinese brand.
both were 6000K

chinese much more powerful, but burn out fast. went through 3 i think in less than a year.

the pathfinder headlight is not designed for Xenon, and it scatters the light instead of focusing it. so it basically blinds everyone in front of you, and you dont really see any better. i dont recommend.
i went back to normal lights and bought the Phillips Xtreme. they're the brightest i've used, and i havent changed them since.

I considered Phillips halogens after reading good reviews. But I wanted to try HIDs. I guess Ill save the box...I should have asked before buying. :-)

Any good experiences out there?

Too bad they only fit the 05-07 years. Us with newer Pathfinder have no opitions on projector headlamps. :(

That's still unproven.

You'll be set!
The only problem I have with mine (the aftermarket light housing you have pictured) is a vibration of the bulbs when driving over a bump. It's like they are not seated correctly. I plan on pulling everything apart to check just that. It could also be from the light housing & cheap included projectors not being mated well. Aside from that, the light output is amazing, although I would not do this using the stock reflectors.

I posted them somewhere on the forum in one of the threads, but I can't seem to find it. So, here are a few:

running lights only

showing the cutoff: I'm at a little bit of an angle to the wall

straight on to the building in front of me-keep in mind that it is pretty hard to capture the true brightness/contrast at night

this is about the closest I have to showing a closeup of the lights during the day

Hey NVSteve, how long have you had the headlight projectors? Just wondering about the durability. Also, do you have to remove the grill to install them?

I've had them for 1+ years now, I think. Before I installed them, I ran a bead of silicone around the entire edge of the lens & a few spots on the rear that didn't look as safe for water. I pulled off the grill (super easy) & the bumper. I didn't have enough room in my garage to remove the wheels, which really made the job a bitch. You need to remove the plastic fender liners so that you can access a bolt or two for the headlights, and being able to remove the wheels is fairly useful. Overall, it's pretty easy and straightforward.

Do 2008-2012 have the same headlights?

What and why is there a difference?

08 + pathfinders have a differnt front end. Nissan had to extend the front end to make room for the V8. So as of now, there is no company that has made projector headlamps for 08 + Pathfinders. :(
