The Nissan Path

Hi Guy's can anyone tell me what this component is hanging from the rear of my pathy? I've just had a tow bar fitted today and think they have made an arse of it..... if it help's with the identification it's a 2011 UK model

That looks like the connection for the 4 pin wirring harness. That on there is just a dead end plug
