I have 2007 pathfinder.
The clear plastic cover of the headlight is getting murky. I want to put a new one in along with brighter headlights.


Is this a job I can do myself?
Any guess on what that housing costs?
What lights would you recommend for a brighter light? Online sights that sell both?

Just polish it. Plenty of polish kit available in auto stores. Look up the process on youtube and do the same thing. Replacing the lights will cost hundreds, whilst polishing can be done for under $20 and a little time.

Depends on how much you want to spend. I bought new headlight assemblies (projectors) altogether & threw in HID for the low beams. Whole thing was ~$350.

I've gone the polishing route before, sometimes with success, sometimes not. New OEM housings are pretty damned expensive, so it is certainly worth a try with polishing.

It's actually pretty easy. Takes a bit of time because you need some room & need to remove the front wheels. Other than that, just a bunch of screws and bolts that need to be removed.

I use a 3M headlight lens restoration kit. You can pick them up at most auto parts stores for $13-16. One kit will handle two headlamps. You'll need an electric drill and it's best to use some masking tape and newspaper (or similar) to prevent splatter onto the rest of your vehicle. If you follow the directions and take your time, they will look like brand new when you're finished! Takes about an hour to an hour and a half to restore both lamps, depending on how made they are.
