backup alarm

I have a 2006 pathfinder. The backup alarm goes off incessantly on a gravel surface . It works as it should on hard pavement. My driveway is gravel and would like to be able to turn it off but there is no switch to disable it on the dash board. Is there a way to turn it off? pull a fuse etc.

Also, how do you determine what R number you have? I think this is a R51 but don't know for sure.

thanks

the code name for the 2005-2012 pathfinder is the R51.
on the main forum page, you can see the different categories.

your 2006 is an R51.

for the sensors, you should find an override/disable switch in the back cargo area on the left hand side between the rear wheel & the tail light section. thats where its located in some of the 2010s, not sure about the older models.
mine is a 2008, and nissan didnt add a disable switch for me, but just threw the main unit in the back beside the speakers.

thanks.
no switch in the 2006. there must be way to turn it off. I wonder if there is an adjustment to make it work properly on gravel.

Interesting because I have a 2006 LE and don't have the backup warning system. Also couldn't find anything in the owner's manual about it. I wonder if it came on the NAVI system models because I don't have that on my LE.

to my knowledge no trim level in all the R51s came with backup sensors.
it was just one of those "extras" you can purchase at Nissan, and every dealer would have their own way of mounting it.

like i said, mine was Nissan installed and has no switch whatsoever. it has a 9V battery which needs replacement every few years.
