'07 LE rear hatch won't open

I went outside this morning and went to open my rear hatch to grab my brush to brush the snow off the pathy. somehow the rear hatch was never closed all the way when it was shut last. the hatch light had never gone on, so I was totally unaware of this. well, the hatch wouldn't open and the glass wouldn't open either. the door would just wiggle back and forth about an inch. so I finally just shoved it shut, thinking it would open for me. well, it won't open. and the glass won't open either. has anyone ever had this happen before? any thoughts?
