The Nissan Path

Hey guys, so the other day, I foolishly enough backed into a dumpster. Luckily no dents or cracks just some chipped paint, so i got ready to head to to my nearest Nissan dealer, (an hr away) when I thought about what Doctahjones had done with all his plisti dip. Called up NAPA and they luckily had some bed liner spray. Got two cans and managed to spray not only the rear bumper, but those chipped up rocker panels while I was at it.. For $20.50 I think it was a wise choice. Still not sure of the looks, but it came out looking a lot better than i imagined.

Steps... this is just what I did

Removed bumper, about 8-10 bolts/screws
Sanded bumper
Applied primer,
sanded primer
apllied 4 coats of dupli color bed liner spray
waited to dry (2 hrs is good, 4 hrs is better)
re mounted bumper



rocker panels

Taped off bottom of door
taped off top of rocker panel (door open)
sprayed
peeled tape

These rocker panels were the easiest things I have ever done. Took about 5 minutes per side, and man do I like the looks, Keeps them in much better shape too.

I miss the days when I don't need to worry about the paint on my bumper I remember bumper cover made of plastic/rubber or just plain old stainless steel.

I backed into a chain link fence a few months back. I still haven't fixed the chipped paint with the touch up paint I bought.

looks good! i think if the weather is nice this weekend i'll be doing this to my bumpers as well.

Man you are one cheep!! ... Lol just kidding.. This looks great and that stuff is tough I think someday when I chip my bumper I will do the same.

Im up in Plymouth, Ive done some light off roading, sandwich notch road is always fun, along with the daily drive down to a little secret beach on the river ( can get muddy sometimes).


I like the looks so far, thinking about doing the front bumper as well. It was cheap and worked well. Easier and cheaper than touch up paint, can never seem to make it look good with that stuff. Took me no time at all, probably dont have to remove the bumper cover to paint it if you are doing that, but it was easy enough to remove. Buying a few more cans to do the front bumper today.

How hard is it to take the rear bumper cover off and replace it? Mine got crunched and I am going for a replacement already painted to match...

It was simple! about 6-8 screws/bolts and a few clips and it come right off. I suggest taking the mud flaps completely off. then removing the bumper however, they just get in the way of taking it off.
