Rear Hatch & Glass Struts Revisited.......

Can anyone verify that McMaster-Carr part number 9416K148 (which has changed to 9416K128) is the correct number for the 200 lb. struts for an early (2005) R51?
Also, does anyone have the McMaster-Carr part number for the support struts (equivalent to OEM) for the rear hatch glass?
Or, if not, the correct OEM lb. rating for them?

I'm seeing "9416K28" as being the replacement for "9416K148," which was the numbered I ordered for my '06 Pathfinder rear hatch, listed as 200 PSI.

I got my glass lifts at Rockauto, so I don't have the McMaster-Carr #. It would be listed in this thread somewhere:

No, I got the 200 PSI hatch struts from McMaster-Carr over 3 years ago and I've never had a problem with them, no matter what the temperature is!

Be sure to get the 200 and not the 225. I got the 225 and HATE them. The rear lift gate will pop you if you're not holding some pressure on the dang thing. And it is not very easy to grab with one hand and close. I've thought about chucking them and buying some 200# struts.

The glass lifts from McMaster-Carr are P/N: 9416K162

200psi is probably the most popular for the rear hatch. A lot of people have used the 225psi and have thought they were a bit too much.

NVSteve posted a pic comparison of the two and comments on page 7 of the link I previously posted:

My rear struts are getting slightly weak on mine. They've been replaced before with a brand by the name of StrongArm by the previous owner, but no idea how long ago. I'm getting ready to order some McMasters but not sure if I have to order ends so I figured I might as well order theirs. Has anyone had fitment issues with their ends on our vehicles or is the ball portion the same side regardless of vehicle? Kinda like a industry standard size regardless of brand.

I just transferred my stock sockets on my 2006. I think there was a change in the threading around 2010, if I remember right? I know it's mentioned somewhere in that monster thread, I just don't remember where and don't have time right now to go through it.

Alright, replaced the rear hatch struts and it lifts higher than before and I don't have to help push it up. I ordered the end caps from McMaster and they're good. They have a dab of grease in them to lubricate the ball attachment portion. I ordered the 200lb and wish I could have done it sooner.
