My wife had a small fender bender in a parking lot that punched a hole on the front bumper cover. Replacing the bumper cover seems like a DIY I should be able to handle. My primary concern with a non-OEM bumper is fitment. Does anyone have experience with non-oem bumper covers they've used? I found this company which offers to paint it as well so it seems like a nice option.

At that price.. even if its less than perfect I'd live with it and be happy

Yeah, the price is almost too good which is what makes me wonder how good the fitment is. They also have a CAPA certified one for $112. I've never heard of CAPA before but the FAQ on the website says they are a non-profit that tests the quality of auto parts.

This same company also offers painting services. The CAPA certified bumper painted costs $477. So basically $365 to paint it. I need to call a body shop and see what they would charge. $365 sounds high to me, but maybe its competitive.

Well I am sure you can find it cheaper.. but $365 is pretty standard for painting a bumper from quality shop.
Remember they have all sorts of bends and lines..

I called a local shop and the price is in the same ballpark. The local shop said that because the vehicle is 10 years and paint changes color as it ages they will have to adjust the factory color to make it match. If that's the case I'm thinking I should go with the local shop vs the online painter.

If your open to modify the look, Maybe you can put a bull bar or a light bar or something to cover it?

Can you try getting it fixed? Its not that big damage.

I think repairing is more expensive than replacing. The bumper cover is cheaper than the cost of hours for repair labor. And since either option will require painting and installation, both of those costs are unavoidable.

I'm going to get some estimates this week so we'll see.

How about used? Check car-parts.com or ebay. or local salvage yard

I got a quote for repair for $571. The more I think about it, the more likely I am to go that route. With an aftermarket cover, there is no guarantee how good the fitment will be. Rather than roll the dice with fitment, I think repairing is a safer bet.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wasn't familiar with car-parts.com before. I looked at them, but most have scratches or damage that needs repair.
