Driver Ext door handle

Need to take the door handle off to swap the microswitch for the keyless entry.
Loosened the grub screw on the edge of the door and got the exterior blank key block out ( the key entry being on the passenger uk side.
despite pulling towards the end of the door, tapping the handle towards the end as per some youtube vids still the handle wont budge.
has anyone changed the microswitch? pointers or vids welcome ++
