Need to replace cross bars

Postby padgett » Thu Jul 30, 2020 10:00 am

I recently upgraded my kayak to a very nice 12ft fishing kayak. When I tossed it up on my roof for the first time I noticed that the weight of the kayak caused a lot more bounce on the cross bars. Last weekend I had two kayaks up there and the amount of bounce made me a bit nervous. I was wondering if you all had any suggestions on more sturdy cross bars than the factory ones or if I am going to be better off get a buddy of mine to fabricate me some.

It's probably be better and cheaper to get your buddy to make some if he has the ability to do so. If he can MIG weld, I would get them done in aluminum to lessen the weight on the roof.
