Loose wipers?

Hi,

yesterday I noticed my right windshield wiper has a lot of play. Checked and saw it is the wiper axle having play.
See the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfE0cs32RmY
Will this be pain to repair?

Hmmm.

I like Ry the Car guy, the Xterra / Frontier / Pathfinder are similar at the front.

@4:56 of the video, you can see the driver's arm connects.

It looks like there is screw (s) that connect the right and left arms and you don't have slippage at the wiper spline.

By lifting the cowl you can see which end has the play (at the motor or at the wiper).
Hopefully it's just loose.

I haven't done this myself, but it looks about 15-20 minutes to get in there and inspect it.

Excellent, thank you very much! Ry the Car guy is fantastic, and your link rocks!

Unfortunatelly I found out it is not just loose, but those plastic "bearings" wore out on both arms. One wore so much that rocker arm simply felt off, the other has just a lot of play and will also break soon.

It looks like those plastic caps are not sold separatelly, but I need to buy whole assembly.

Depends on budget, you can either go to the dealer to get one from the recycler.
On Car-Part.com the assembly is the same model up to / on 2019 Frontiers..around $60 bucks.

Doesn't look too expensive from dealer either!

Good luck!

I wouldn't recommend getting used ones; the plastic bushings are already worn and you weaken them more when you pry them off of the ball stud. Last thing you want is to be driving in a rain storm and have the wipers stop working! New links aren't that expensive.

Ice build up on my windshield caused my passenger side wiper to pop off the linkage. I guess that bushing on the linkage is worn.

I found the whole assembly on amazon https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-Solution ... 132&sr=8-3 for a fair price but older Nissan models appear to have just the bushings available from Dorman but not for the 05-12 model years.

Is it possible to just get the bushings? Or do I have to buy the whole wiper linkage assembly?

The linkage assemblies are only $7~10 from NissanPartsDeal.com or $11~14 list at the dealer parts counter. Seems kind of silly to go hunting for bushings.

Thank you! Unlike rockauto and amazon that only have the whole wiper linkage assembly which is overkill when it’s just the bushings that are worn, nissanpartsdeal lists the the links within the overall assembly that come with the bushings. I’ll get these part numbers:

28842-ZL00A Passenger side link
28841-ZL00A Driver side link

Got the links from the dealer and swapped them out. Piece of cake!
