Can’t believe I let my in cabin filter get this bad. I truly have no idea when was the last time it was changed out. Of course the cover snapped off the 2 tabs, but fortunately I was able to use a small screw to put it back on. I think a screw should have been there but it wasn’t. I have now done 3 of the 4 vehicles in the family and am pledging I will do it once a year from now on!

Even I do them.
Both my Pathfinder and My Xterra had a new one each in past few months.

You're not the only one. Every used car I've bought I've had to replace the cabin filters and sometimes even the air filter right away. Nasty nasty stuff if you don't change out the cabin filters annually.

Sometimes I have to change my brand new Air Filter after just one weekend.
(when I'm tailgunner and eat dust all days)

Keep an eye on if dust makes it past the air filter into the air intake.

Yep I conclude. I just picked up a 2009 V6SE. The cabin filter looks like a bird nest. No wonder the sunroof is leaking. Lol


Does anyone know how to clean the blower motor for the cabin filter. I think some particles fell in then as I can hear noises in there now after changing cabin filter. Thanks.

Pop the Blower Motor, you'll want to clean out the cavity. Super-easy on an R51. It's right behind the glove box, 3 phillips screws after the box is out. See VTL-12 here:

Thanks. You wouldn’t happen to know how I can access the rear sunroof drains would you ? Looks like a big job. I might just seal “ properly “ what the previous owner did. He used clear caulk which I’ve so far remove.

The rear drains on R51's are funky, they kind of went out of their way to make them a PITA. You can see the routing here on page RF-56:

Drains almost always clog at the bottom, and with all the turns the R51 rears make, blowing it out from the top stands a good chance of blowing the tube off the upper nipple. Then you're stuck dropping the headliner. If I remember correctly you can get at the lower fittings by peeling back the rear sections of the wheel-well liners, and blowing or snaking them out from the bottom is a much better idea.

PS - If the drains are clogged or kinked, no amount of caulking will fix anything unless you're prepared to forget the entire roof and caulk it shut.

I’m normally one to not cut corners and do the job right the first time around. But since I’m old now and never use a sunroof in Florida I’m kinda liking the sealed shut permanently option.

However I think I’ll still go ahead and is left the drain hope exits. I believe the front ones are under the windshield cowel. And as you said the rear ones behind the back wheel wells.

Forgot to ask, any recommendations on something not duct tape like to temporarily seal the sunroof until I get time to look into it further? thanks

3M Extreme Sealing, 4412N. Sticks well to painted surfaces and removes fairly easily with industrial adhesive removers:
