I am wondering if my vehicle originally came with the auto dim rear view mirror and built in home link. Currently it has a basic rear view mirror, perhaps used when the windshield was replaced once? I used a website called nissanforum to decode my vin it says the following in regards to it

Day/night rearview mirror

I guess that's is indeed a basic rear view mirror then? Is it easy to retrofit one perhaps. ?

Virtually all Nissan Homelink mirrors only require power and ground to work. Some of them have other functionalities like outside temperature, but they'll all dim normally and work the garage door even if the bells and whistles aren't connected. You can pretty much install any used one from any model that fits in the hole.

Does the Nissan description term used “day / night mirror “ indicate mine was equipped with auto dimming or just a regular one? I would
Have looked at the manual but it’s at the mechanic awaiting to get the heater pipes replaced at the firewall.

No, day/night generally means a regular mirror with a mechanical day/night mechanism. They call the automatic function in Homelink mirrors "Anti-Dazzling".

I would be interested to know how much the heater pipe replacement ran you if you don't mind me asking.

I paid $220 for a non genuine item from Amazon. Plus another $250 for the install I recall. I’m referring to the hoses near the firewall that failed
