Rear Wheel Well - missing fender flaps?

Inside of the forward part of the rear wheel well, there are two notches where "something" is supposed to be attached on mine are missing, or were never there.

The best I can come up with is a wind deflector for the right and left side.

Nissanpartsdeal.com has this

Nissan 93883-EA500 Wind DEFLECTOR-Rear WHEELHOUSE,LH
Nissan 93882-EA500 Wind DEFLECTOR-Rear WHEELHOUSE,RH

Does anyone actually have anything attached inside of the front part of the rear well?
It seems this is where snow and salt goes to die and kill the fender wall with rust.

I'm not even certain this is the correct part, as it doesn't seem to the have the two square notches where something is supposed to be?

Thanks for anyone that can let me know if they actually have a plastic guard there....

I'm thinking that part might be in lieu of the rear mud flap? Or under it?

There is nothing in the forward part of mine. I do know the square holes you are talking about. Nothing has ever been there in my truck.

Can confirm in my 2012, mud flaps on the rear of the wheel well, and notches in the front side.

Thanks everyone.

Yep, those are the small connection points.

In researching Frontier threads, there is "forward" flap in the rear well nearer to the rear door, but it doesn't appear to ever be available on the R51. Only on the Frontier Pro 4x version.

You see the option here....

Looks like they call them wind deflectors rather than mud flaps, as they are in the forward part of the well.
Weird.

Don't see that these are particularly useful for anything.

Someone parked their 2005 with these front side flaps next to my truck today. Never seen them before.

If there's an R51, I usually park next to it out of principle. This time, someone else did the same!

Excellent! I knew there had to be something to go there.

Love that Silverton Blue(?). A great colour for the R51.

Lol. The only time I got upset while teaching my son to drive was when he refused to park next to a twin R51 at the grocery store.

Kids these days!

So I think that the difference here is the running boards... Versions delivered without the stock running boards have those mini mud flaps, but you never see them on models with the running boards.
I could be wrong, but i made a trip to the auto wrecker today and the 2012 there did not have boards but does have the front flaps.

Makes sense. The white one here was a no-frills edition for sure.

Silverton Blue is a really nice color. It's a great choice for the R51. It gives a classic and sophisticated look that fits the design of the car very well.
