Hi from Sweden !
No forum, nor that many Pathies in Sweden, and I´m living far from the place where they sell the used Pathfinders so I´m hoping for some help here.

Question since I´m a surfer+family guy:
Thinking about buying a PF-2011 LE V6 diesel.
Anyone of you nice guys/girls that can measure the length from back door to the back of the Right passenger seat at the most forward+forward leaned position for me? (measure to Back of seat up till below where the headrest is) .

Would like to have our Longboards on the Roof, and Windsurf board in the car and still be able seat my Girlfriend in 2nd passenger seat, and 7y daughter at 3rd passenger seat and have all windsurf gear at the right side.
Would need at least a length of 240cm = 94,5 inches = 7'88 ft (think conversions are correct)

All friends drive Volvo XC90 but I think the Pathie have a better comfort for me as 6.3ft tall, and I think its a way cooler looking car

I know my old Chrysler Grand Voyager (Town & Country to you) would be a smarter choice to upgrade to, but I have a somewhat 40year crisis and refuse buy a minivan again.

hey swedude,

rough measurements but with two front seats up and the rest down i you have about 1.85 meters space but if you fold the passenger seat down and the row of seats behind it you have about 2.5 meters length.

i can fit my 7 foot board in the back no prob theres tonnes of space and my dad takes it sometime and puts his windsurfer in it, mast and sail and board all in and theres plenty of room for it. i prefer not keeping boards on the roof so if i leave the truck at least i know its all locked up inside.

if you need more space and done need the extra seats, you can put the board in diagonally and you will get a few more inches to squeeze a longer board in.

The 2.5meter of load length, is it so that someone could then also sit in the front passenger seat, or is it pushed up all the way forward/front tilted towards the dashboard ?
Or is the 2.5meter measured all the way to the dashboard with the front passenger seat folded down ?

2.5 meters is pushed up against the dash with the passanger seat down. you could just keep all the seats on the drivers side up so you will have seats for 3 passengers and put the rest down. there is probably more then 2.5 meters but at 2.5 you are not hitting the board off the windscreen

Hmm, I thought the PF would be longer inside, its looks so big. Oh the "headache" this gives me haha.
I really "need" a car thats Tall and Long, and we don´t have any Dodge Durangos/Ford Explorer etc. in Sweden.

I could now start look at cars like Honda CR-V, Kia Sorento, Mitshubishi Outlander, Nissan Qashqai, Nissan X-trail etc. that my gut dont want, cause they don´t have the "looks" but I fear they almost as "small" length wise as the Pathie.

You can do it, you just need to be a little creative. I put my longboard (9' 6") inside the truck. I do it by folding the rear seats down, taking the right front seat head rest off and reclining it back as far as it'll go despite the seat behind it keeping it up a bit:



Most of the reason I have the Pathfinder is cargo area length to carry my extra-large frame 29er mountain bikes. I used a tape measure when I compared it to other vehicles; it's still one of the largest cargo boxes out there and definitely one of the longest. I think the Highlander is one of the few similar vehicles that's a little longer, although it trades some cargo height and driver foot room to get there.

One of my surfing friends has an XC90. My Pathfinder has way more space than her SUV...

You can fit a lot of things in there if you're not going to use the passenger seat, but that's not what was asked. Also worth noting, some models (mine) have a fold-flat front passenger seat.

So I think I measured what you want:

The front passenger seat will go so far forward it almost touches the glove box. So I moved it to a point that left about 7" between the seat and glove box. I also put the seatback up almost upright. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with someone sitting like that but maybe a small person.

Length from the back door to just below the headrest is 82 inches or 208cm. The other option that might work for you is to run the board up between the two front seats. This option easily would give you the 240cm.

I'm not sure how this would fit in an XC90 and not a Pathfinder as the PF is a bit longer to begin with.

You may be right. I see passenger and think...passenger side. OP will have to confirm I suppose. But if he's not looking to park someone in the front passenger seat, he can easily get 240cm.

Does your front passenger seat fold flat? I assume not since you mentioned folding it backwards....and I'm not clear which models have that and which do not.

Yeah, I guess my English isn't the best, but what I meant was that I planned when needed, to get my Girlfriend in the seat behind me, and my daughter in the seat behind her, and then use all length possible on all of the right side.

I´ll take a drive and go look at some Pathfinders hopefully to the weekend, thanks for all your help, and if some have a "flat folded" front passenger seat I guess that would be excellent, if not, as someone said, just remove the headrest and fold the front passenger seat back

Looks promising, because before I went to sleep i looked at Volkswagen Sharan even due to I had given up the vision to get a car my gut wanted AND get my board into it
