Left front brake getting hot

Hi

I have a problem with my left front brake on my Pathfinder.
This brake gets much hotter then the other wheels.

I have checked and lubricated the sliding pins, they are ok.
I have checked the pads, they runs free in the grooves.
I have checked the caliper pistons, they also run free.
(But I have to use some force to push them in)

One brakepad is more worn then the other (but within the accepted wear). and the disc are worn approximately 1mm on each side.

With the engine running, i can see the outer shoe release if I press and release the brakes.
With the car rised, it is possible to turn the wheel, but it is some drag. could also be the 4x4 system.

I have ordered new pads and discs, but they wont be here until next week.

Any tips?

I would replace the caliper and front brake hose to it.

That was not the answer I wanted....

I have also found out that the pistons are harder the further out they are.
Now when the pads are worn, they are hard to push in, but after 2-3 mm they gets much better. New pads are much thicker, i guess, so that will solve the problem (temporary) ?

Is this a normal fault on the pathfinder? Would it be smart to change both the calipers at the same time?

I wouldn't say it's a common problem on the Pathfinder, but it's something that can occur on any vehicle with disc brakes. I recently worked on a 2002 Chevy S-10 4X4 that had one front and one rear caliper doing the same thing. The best practice is to replace both if one is bad.
