Looking into some new tires...

Looking into getting some new tires. Just would like some opinions from you guys. I'm looking for a good all terrain, I do a lot of pavement driving as well as so back roads. I also like the aggressive "nubby" patterns. My favorite tire has got to be the BFG A/T but I'm not sure if I want to drop the extra dough on them if there is something comprable in style and performance. Any opinion would be appreciated!

it was a big load for me to drop too. i've -never- spent that much on tires before. was about $300/tire installed, and that was with a small 'friend' discount.

however, i couldn't be happier. after about 9 months i've only lost 4/32nd's. they start with 16/32nds and i'm down to about 12.

the only problem i have is that i got the E load rated tires, so they're alot heavier and i have to keep them inflated to about 45 or more to keep the tread wear right. this means that i don't get alot of cushion from my tires, and actually probably get a little more rattle out of them because of that. but that's what i get for insisting on getting the severe snow rated ones vs just the m+s rated.

by this time on the oem tires i would have already replaced 2, and 1/2 to replacing another 2. i'd go through ~8/32nds on one set in 6 months or less (they only came with 10/32).

at this rate i figure it will be another 18 months before i start thinking about buying again. and yes, i will be buying these again, unless i get the goodyear duratracks. been seeing alot of those around lately and i do like the tread design on 'em. hoping to get a ride in a set before i buy though.

I appreciate the feedback! The grabbers look nice, especially the price haha.

I know everyone who has the BFGs love them, just not sure it's worth it down here in FL, plus I don't really do any real trail riding since I only have the 4x2. I'm torn haha.

well they definitely seem to wear really slow for me, and i'm a pretty aggressive driver. that's my biggest thing. the fact that they also kick ass on the trails and in snow is just an added bonus :)

Not me. Not even close.

With the Duratracs I'm running now, I can safely say my next set of tires will also be Duratracs. They might be a bit overkill for your situation, however.

Those are going to look good with that set-up. Post pics if you get a chance.

I almost got those, but decided on the Duratracs only because I needed snow packed road capability, not only offroad snow capability.

Which sucks, because this year's winter was dry as can be around here.

I just put a set of the BFG All Terrian T/A KO's today. Really Liked the Duratracs as well. Kind of a flip of a coin. All I know for sure is that they are a helluva lot better than the OEM tires.

Why am I having a hard time finding BFG ATs for 265/65R17?? Anyone have any good sites too look at?

where did you get it done at? also aren't you still on stock wheels? did they give you any grief about the rim size being too small for the spec'd min rim size for those 285/65s?

Looks like I'm gonna try and go with the grabbers. Anyone know the type of thread life I could expect?
