Copper in the brake fluid?

I just got new tires and the guy told me I had 200 PPM of copper in my brake fluid. Now, normally I just zone out during their "courtesy inspection" spiel but the 'copper in the brake fluid' thing I've never heard before.

Should I be concerned? Worth the $80 for a flush?

Has rhe brake fluid ever been changes on your car. The copper in the brake fluid comes from copper gaskets wearing down over time. It is recommendes that when the copper hita 200 ppm thar it be replaced cause the abs system can be damaged by copper.

Replace the fluid it is easy. 2 bottles of Prestone DOT 3,turkey baster to remove master cylinder fluid - don't use your wife's - and if you have a compressor buy the pressure bleeder out of Harbor freight, works great. All in about $40 and you still have the tool.

Just check all the bleeders are free before you start. Sequence is detailed in the Brake section in the manual. Disconnect battery.
