Towing and tire pressure

The max tire pressure on my 245/75/16 tires on my Pathfinder is 44 psi I normally run around 36 psi what do you think I should run towing my aprox 5,000 lb Jayco? I was thinking 40 but do you think it would be smarter to run the max of 44 psi?

IMHO You're going to need to air up and test. That's how I found a good pressure to run mine at. Off the cuff I would say it's not a bad idea to run 40psi as a start/no matter what though. Easier to let a bit of air out than it is to fill up if the sidewalls are flattening out. If your luck would be anything like mine every gas station you stop at would either not have air or it would be busted.
I keep mine @ 50psi towing or not but could (if the specs are similar to the KO2's) run them up to 80psi. But again, I found that at 50 towing produced no noticeable change in handling and no significant generation of heat so I am comfortable with that.

I don't think you need to do anything special for towing. Assuming you're not exceeding the tongue weight spec, it's not much different than loading up with passengers and gear. I run near 40, but that is for gas mileage. I don't make any changes for towing and the PSI does not change significantly when the trailer is hitched.
