Gas cap. Am I missing something?

This is almost too embarrassing to ask, but are you supposed to just fiddle and push on the gas cap to open it? (2007 LE)
I don't really see any mechanism to open. Or to lock, for that matter.

the cap, or the hinged door that covers it?

The gas cap should unscrew from the filler neck. If you are referring to the door, on my 06 LE, it locks when you lock the doors and unlocks when you unlock the doors. I just push on the left side of the door and it swings open. IIRC, on my 2008 SE, it just pulls open.

I was referring to the gas door. I'll have to double check but I don' think it locks when I lock the car.
This is so weird. I've been driving since the 90's and never owned a car without a remote door opener before.

No remote opener...just push it open. If you have the locking mechanism, you'll see the white plastic latch to the right side of the gas cap when you open the lid. Hitting the "lock" and "unlock" buttons on your fob should cause the latching mechanism to activate.

both of my '05 R51 gas doors are locked when the doors are locked.
all years may not be the same, but your owners' manual should say how it's supposed to work on your '07 specifically.

My 2012 SV doesn't have a lock on the gas door.

They removed the lock after the firs couple of years. I thought it started without the lock in 2008, but it could be 2007; I'm not sure. I do know my 2008 is without the lock.

I checked and my '08 doesn't have the lock either.
Nissan has an OEM gas cap with a lock. I'm getting that.

My 06 has the locking door mechanisim, I found out the other week lol. but the cap is not lockable.
Am I reading right? the 07 had 2 gas tanks?
