Was looking at a site in the UK which offer off road days in your own vehicle.

http://muddybottomoffroad.co.uk

One of the stipulations are All vehicles MUST have front and rear recovery points.

The vehicles have a hook and loop fore and aft already, but what are you guys adding at a reasonable price?

Ive a tow bar on the rear allready

Cheers all

There aren't a ton of options if you look for Pathfinder but you could look for Navarra front recovery points if you want something else. DiBo has some nice looking custom ones that should be relatively simple with access to the necessary tools.

I’ve sourced and arrived from the USA another oem

Took the plastic cover off the front. It was scruffy so resprayed it back to black.

Was bored today so the new and original hooks got a revamp.

Rubbed down, anti rust spray, primed, gloss coat and lacquer.
Oven dried each coat. Just ordering 4 new bolts and will refit.

Piccy of the hooks in progress and finished.

The new hook from LA didnt include the bolts. Trying to source them in the UK is like unicorn poop !

Tried a dozen fastener outlets this morning, but they dont have the fine thread nissan like.

Stealers want £16 a bolt !! Ive tried a 'nissan' genuine shop in the Midlands this morning too, whom quoted just under a fiver a bolt, so fingers crossed so i can refit the 2 hooks.

Ive ordered some rubberised non-slip heatshrink to wrap the shackles on my rope so not to have metal on metal wear.

All back on

All back together.

Both hooks attached and looking good.

The heat shrink didn't fit as id hoped but still protects the metal.
The shackles have to be un-done and done back up to apply, they don't just slip over the hook, which is great.

Rope straps can be slipped over with a fiddle, but means they also won't just slip over the tip and break free.

Im not leaving the shackles in place, they will be stored clean and dry with the 8 tonne rescue rope I've bought.

I used bumper spray on the black plastic cover to make it all clean and tidy
on the front end.

Thoughts ?

Id already added an extra rescue hook to the front of the truck. In the UK they only have one on the passengers side and dont supply a drivers side, Nissan say they cant get !!! Got one from the US which is a genuine hook bolt on.

The standard rear rescue point is under the car as we all know and off to one side. Non UK cars seem to have a box towbar point for swapping to a shackle bar.
Ive a swan neck towbar on mine and not wanting to splash out big money on swapping it all over, bumper off etc. Soooooooo........

This what I did today....

I ordered 2 6000kgs swivel shackles
and 2 6000kgs D-Shackles

Then set to the tow bar as they shackles wouldn't fit with the top rings....

ImageTowbar rescue mod

The bottom hole is where i want the shackles

Swan neck out and grinder out the toolbox.....

ImageTowbar rescue mod

Both now fit snug.

With D shackle for chain or rope. Figure that jointing them will keep some strength.

The marine ring is there to attach rope etc when putting stuff on the roof bars.
