New Toyota Trucks, looks like...old Nissan R51

Well.

Seeing the new Landcruiser debut, makes me think that what's old, is new again.
The 1958 Edition comes with cloth seats, and rounded headlights. Rumours of mid 50s starting price which is impressive considering how impossible these were for many to obtain for many years.

The ole R51 looks ok beside some of these recent designs from Ford and Toyota.

At this point, I'm okay with my R51. I'll save $50k+ and just SAS my R51. Parts are starting to get discontinued from Nissan though so I'm a bit worried, but otherwise in okay spirits.

Interesting comment on parts being discontinued.

I've been fortunate so far. I've been able to find any wear item, suspension component and exhaust.
Maybe a major component is harder to find?

Parts I worry about are the ones attached to the rear cradle at this point.

At some point, you can always buy a cheap American Pathy. Drive it up there and use it for parts.

I've ran into trouble with particular coolant and vacuum hoses being discontinued. The coolant reservoir is either discontinued or on a very long backorder with no ETA. Valve cover was the same way as the coolant reservoir. Depending how long the Pathy treats me, I may order parts just to stash it away for a future emergency like window and sunroof seals.

Rocker covers. Now you have me thinking I should order them in while stocks last!

I've been fortunate that I've used Car-part for updating (using Frontiers).
I was able to secure a whole front end rebuild (control arms, knuckles with hubs) on a 2019 vehicle with 3k miles on it - $300 CAD. Parts were literally new.

It's not for everyone, but it's an outlet that may be more useful as time passes on for certain components.

At least for the V6 Pathy's we should be ok for along time.
The VQ40de was only discontinued for the 2019 MY so parts should be in the pipeline for a long time to come no?

Yeah, I think parts for the VQ40 won't be an issue for a long time just like the VK56. It's just the stuff outside of the engine itself that will be the issue. Hoses, reservoirs, seals, windows/windshields, body mount bushings, etc.
