So, I've read a lot of towing advice here and elsewhere and keep reading that I should disable overdrive when towing. Here's the thing, I don't have overdrive exactly...

I've got the 5 speed transmission with the option of "manual" shifting using the +/- position for the stick. By putting the pathfinder in this mode and limiting it to 4th, does this have the same effect as disabling overdrive?

I'm not too familiar with auto transmissions so any advice would be appreciated.

You are correct. Tow in 4th.
