the AUX input is strictly audio and will not transmit data in any way to the screen.
even the cable connected from the iPod to the AUX is Audio only.

the only i can think of this to be done is to use the dock connector of the iPod to draw the info, but then you would need to integrate the info into the screen which means reprogramming the Nissan screen software (in other words not worth the effort)

for changing songs from the stock controls, the easiest way i can think of would be to buy the iPod remote that can already control the iPod device, then take it to an electronics shop to replicate the IR/RF stream for each command.

you would then need to build your own IR/RF transmitter and connect it to the stock controls. this way the original usage of the controls would not be affected once you disconnect the iPod and return to radio/cd audio.

** PS: i'm supposing a remote for controlling the iPod exists.. i dunno, does it?

last i heard, if you weren't using nav you can get some sort of 'control box' that uses the nav input on your radio that would interface with an ipod. then you could use the dial/jog deal just below your screen in the middle (assuming you have the large lcd screen for audio/climate) to control your ipod and it would display song information.

also heard it was around $150 for the part.

the "control box" you speak of is this unit sold by nissan. just wondering bc the one from nissan wont work for 2012.. i was looking at a kenwood KOS-A300 as other option

I've been using my phone and ipad with the 3.5mm for years now. There no way around it. At times I wish I got the S model for the reason of switching out the radio. I wish some one would make a radio that works with the Se temp controls

Crutchfield has a interface made by usa spec to intergrate your ipod into the factory radio looks like the best option but you must have sat radio option for it to work.

That sounds cool, will look into that for hooking up the Ipod in the car. Then again now that I have a SAT radio, not sure I'll need the Ipod in the car.

You can go to best buy and pick up the iSimple. Not a fan of how it works but it has on screen capability
