But I guess I'm too cheap

Covered 3500 km like that. Thankfully I have air bags in the rear springs, but I probably should have adjusted my head lights slightly

Why bother with a trailer? Looks like you got it handled pretty well!

Agree, I'd much rather tackle a long trip like that than with a trailer. I would think if the bags were aired up more you wouldn't need to adjust headlights. I've had some heavy loads on mine and still sitting level with the bags at 30-35psi.

Thanks for the umm, "support"?(Ducks and covers)
I stopped inflating at 18 psi ...so I should have kept going?

Maybe that means I should buy a camping trailer in addition to all the toys? I don't mind trailers all that much. I'm usually the one elected to back up 30' campers or launch my friend's fishing boats 8)

Well....I run mine around 20psi when I'm empty. It firms up the ride, levels the rig, and makes it handle better particularly with individual valves for each bag. When I'm hauling I bump them up around 30psi unless it's super heavy then I'll go to 35psi. So yeah I think you're way too low.

I've got a Dodge diesel with over 200k miles towing 15,000-18,000# 40' trailers. It's just plain tiring to run long distance with a trailer....you're constantly watching traffic, merging takes more planning, and the gas mileage is far worse than your setup. I'm not sure how much MORE stuff you can pile on there though!

Yeah, I've done a few trips towing tonnage (in a previous career) with a Cummins across the continent ...definitely keeps you on your toes. Especially when experiencing brake fade down a Colorado pass... :?

Thanks for the inflation tips. I left them at 18 lbs without a load while driving some nasty gravel roads today. The results were not as bad as expected. And yes, I ran separate lines to each bag.
